After Watari, helped treat my now even more red face, L and I returned to our places in the main room. I had my arms crossed, and was straining to watch Kung Fu Panda.
It was almost over, I was watching the part where Po was battling Tai-Lung. Tai-Lung is my favorite character he was so innocent, but then that one prediction corrupted him, telling him his one and only destiny, his reason for being…was going to someone else.
He had a right to be angry, he had a right to hate his surpasser, he had a right to want revenge. In the end Tai-Lung should have won but, instead… he got skadooshed. That's just not right.
I subconsciously growled. L glanced at me, "B?" "What?!" I snapped. L remained stoic but, I could sense a  very, very, very slight tinge of fear. He was staring at my eyes.
They must be glowing, I forced myself to relax, and turned my gaze back to the screen. "Did they feed you at the asylum?" "Pfft, of course not! They hate me!
They left a tray of food just inside the door, knowing perfectly well I could barely take two steps, and I was wearing a frack'n straight jacket."
L stared for a little while. This time I met his gaze head on, not bothering to hide my annoyance. I tried to make him fear me, to send shivers down his spine, and scar him for eternity.
"Although, no crime can go unpunished, especially not murder, the idea of starvation is unthinkable." L said strongly, not looking away. 'He's lying, I know it.
The only reason L would keep me alive is so, he can use me for whatever he has planned.'
I thought bitterly. The room suddenly dimmed as the movie's credits began rolling.
Watari reentered the room. "Gentlemen, we will reach our destination in an hour or so.
I suggest trying to get a short nap in." We both stared blankly at Watari, who switched on a night lamp, and smiled at us, unfazed. "Does insomnia ring a bell? In plus I already took a nap." I said. "That reminds me," L spoke up, "You're waaaaay heavier than you look." I raised an eyebrow then shot back, "I'm not heavy, you're just really weak." We continued exchanging insults, Watari's smile didn't fade as he exited the room.
When our flight landed, I kind of regretted not taking a nap. It was roughly one in the morning, and the drive would be a few hours. We got in a different limo and began the long ride home.
I leaned my head against the window, and watched the scenery roll by.
'I bet L has already narrowed the suspects down to a few people but, knowing him,
L probably already knows who it is. From what he's told me, 'Kira' kills criminals but, won't hesitate to kill those blocking his path, like L per say.
Since, L did challenge him, I bet Kira's plotting to kill L. Kind of like a race,
whoever loses…dies. It sounds fun, I'm glad they have room for one more.'
I began gnawing hungrily on my thumb. That's when I remembered something, "L?"
He glanced at me. "What's Naomi Misora up to?" "Actually she died several months ago, January first to be exact. Your death was broadcasted to the public twenty days after." The second part of L's answer threw me off a little, but I stuck to the former answer.
"…She died? How?" "She committed suicide as a result of her fiancé's death."
"Her-" "Yes, I assume her fiancé came in contact with Kira. He died just outside a train, after receiving-" "Yeah, I know. You told me that part. Misora…committing suicide,
that's not right. She would never take her own life, to avenge another. In fact, she'd go after Kira, maybe tell you what information she gathered." L probably already came to that conclusion but, still I wanted to show him I could be just as smart.
He nodded slowly, in thought. "Now, what about my death?" "Oh, awhile after your arrest, I informed the police to broadcast your death on January twenty-first.
Apparently it took a few months for the news to reach Japan because Kira killed you two days ago." "...Was my room bugged?" "Yes. But, only with wire taps. If I had seen the way they treated you, I certainly would have done something."
'It's just lie after lie.' I sighed, boringly, and leaned against the window again.
I got so wrapped up in my thoughts, that by the time we arrived, my thumb was bleeding all over my jeans. I didn't actually notice until we exited the limo,
and Watari asked if I wanted some gauze. "Uh, yeah. Thanks." We entered a huge hotel,
the sun was just starting to set. I followed L upstairs, to a certain room.
We went into a spacious suite. "You will be staying here for now." L said, almost as if, in a rush. I noticed a lap top on the bed, and went over to it. I heard the door close and lock twice. I was two fascinated with the screen, it was split in half, the first half showed two guys, standing around watching some kind of action movie, a few seconds later, L joined them. I looked at the other half.
It showed a old-ish man with dark brown hair, sitting in the driver's seat of a car, with two teens in the back. A brown haired boy, and a blonde haired girl.
"Where is this? Why did you bring us out to the middle of nowhere?", the boy asked.
"Oh! Are you letting us escape?!", the girl said, hopefully. 'Escape?', I thought.
"Yes…Nobody will see us out here…", the man mumbled, "I've brought you here instead of the execution ground." He turned around slightly. "Light…" the boy raised a brow.
"I'm going to kill you here and then kill myself."
I smiled wickedly and leaned in closer. "What are you saying Dad?! Y-you can't be serious!!" 'Light' exclaimed. "Stop it! You're crazy!" the girl snapped, tears beginning to form. "Your child is Kira, so you'll kill him and kill yourself?! Can't you even see that if you do that you'll be no different  from him?! If you want to die, then die by yourself!" She cried. So, Light is Kira? Wait, could this girl even hear herself,
she just told on Light, then had the nerve to compare the guy to him...
I wasn't following very well. "No…I'm different from Kira…I have the responsibility of being his father and the police chief."
Suddenly, the girl screamed and began to struggle, "YOU'RE INSANE!!" The boy spoke up, "Dad! Misa's right! If we die here, we'll never uncover the truth! We should run away! The truth might come out. No, I'll find the truth while I'm running!"
The man reached in his coat, "It's too late, Light… It's already been decided by those above me. You're dying either way. This way at least it'll be by my hand…" Slowly a hand held came into view. The teens' eyes widened. "Stop, Dad! I swear I'm not Kira! If we die here, we'll fall right into Kira's trap! Don't you see that?!" His voice was urgent and scared. "Amane…Light and I will die here, but I have no reason to kill you. The police will find this car soon. You'll be executed at the planned site…" He jerked the gun directly at his son's head. "L-listen Dad! If we were Kira and the second Kira, then there's no way we'd let you kill us!" He had a point. "There are no witnesses here, if we were the Kiras, then-" "Shut up." The man spat, clicking the safety. "DAD!!"
"Light, we're both murders. We'll see each other again in Hell." "NOOOO!!!" Misa Amane shrieked. I burst out laughing, just as the trigger was pulled.
A loud gun shot rang throughout the lot. There were a few moments of silence as the teens sat staring at the gun, eyes wide, mouth open. "A blank?" Light squeaked.
Suddenly the man collapsed back into his seat, "Thank God.." "Thank God?…What do you mean Dad?" "Forgive me, you two…This was the only way to end your confinement…Please understand that I only did it because I truly believed that you weren't Kira." He looked up slightly, at the camera. "Did you see that Ryuzaki? I did as you said and I'm still alive."
I raised an eyebrow, "Me?" On the first half of the screen, L spoke, "Yes, brilliant acting. In that situation, if Amane was the second Kira, who can kill with just a person's face, I think we can assume she would have killed you before you shot Light-kun, and the same is true if Light-kun was Kira. The Kira I know would kill his own father if need be…it's possible that Light-kun may have figured it out before the end,  but…"
'Oh L, you and your stupid suspicions.'
"As promised I will end both of their confinements. And also as promised, though Amane says she didn't send those tapes to an occult T.V show, we do have various pieces of evidence connecting her to the second Kira, until everything is made clear, we will put Amane under surveillance." Misa's expression became annoyed, "What?! You still suspect me?!" I chuckled, knowing that what L had said was true but, he also just wanted a girl to stick around. "And Light-kun, as also promised. I will work it out so that you and I will be together 24 hours a day, working on solving this case." Light's eyes brightened,
"You got it, Ryuzaki! Let's catch Kira…Together!" I rolled my eyes, annoyed at his cheesy comment. "Yes. I'm pleased to be working with you." L said, I could sense the same annoyance from his voice.
A flopped around on the bed a little, not caring whether I looked like L or not.
I put my leg in the air, and cracked my toes. Then, my stomach growled, 'Hm? I don't suppose L provided me with any jam, did he?' I rolled off the bed, and crawled into the kitchen on all fours. I reached the fridge, and yanked it open. "!!" Empty.
"L, how could you~?" I whined. I tore thru the whole kitchen, searching for jam.
In the end I didn't find any but, I liked the sight of a messy kitchen, and grinned. "This whole room is too clean." I stood up, faced the main room, and ran full speed toward the bed. I jumped at the last second, but missed and ended up knocking the dresser over. The lamp fell and shattered, splintering my ankle. I jumped right back up, and cart wheeled over the bed, smack into the window, the blinds cracked, upon impact. Next, I dragged the mattress off the bed, and lobed it at the television set, the TV fell back and hit the wall, but didn't break….so, I threw a remote at it.
Both splintered. Then, I sprinted into the bathroom, ripping the shower curtains down,
I grabbed the tooth paste tube and a shampoo bottle, and squirted then all over the walls and ceiling. I exited the room, and looked over my work. "Excellent. Now, where did that lap top go?"
After retrieving the lap top from behind the TV, I sat in the bath tub, and explored a little. "Maybe, I can page Watari with this." I exited out of webcam mode,
and over-ridded the system. I rode one of L's transition's thru various, sites and scenes. One showed a picture of a tall building, I paused there, and enlarged the image.
'New Task Force Head Quarters huh? Twenty-five floors. The underground level has excessive parking space.' I decided to check out a virtual floor plan, instead.
The building's inside became clear. 'Why is this floor labeled Misa? Weird.'
I used some of the already installed cameras to look around then, noticed a fair amount of security check-ins on the first three floors, such as finger prints, retina scans,
of course password inputs, and much more. I started at the first floor and hacked my way up. Seeing the doors magically open was beginning to freak the construction workers out. "HA!! Suckers, my hacking skills dominate you!" I went on to the fourth floor.
'That must be the main investigating room.'
The floor plan gave me a good view of the technology, and where all the wires ran.
There were two sets of stairs, on either side of a hoard of computers. There was one huge one with four to the left, four to the right, and three at the bottom. I dug into that system too, searching for any information L had planned on not telling me.
I found some reports about the building, how it should be done in 3-8 days, all levels between five and twenty there each had four closed off rooms, on the roof there were two helicopters. 'Where's L gonna put me?'
Suddenly I was booted out of everything, and the computer automatically shut down. "Darn it L."  I logged back in, and went to Photoshop, I drew out a B in old English red font, copy and pasted it as my webcam picture, and connected to Watari. When the call came thru, I typed, 'mE wAnt JaM' "I'm on my way." Watari responded, thru the speaker.
I smiled.
I laid flat on the floor in the main room, leaving the lap top on the kitchen counter. After a few minutes, the door unlocked and opened. Watari entered pushing a cart, with L crouching on top, and two whole cakes. They both grimaced when they saw the mess.
"BB needs jam~" I whined. Watari lifted the sheet of the cart, to reveal twenty jars of strawberry jam at the bottom. "Yay!!" I squealed, rolling over to them. I gathered as many as I could in my arms and spread them out on the floor, "I love you, Watari!"
He smiled, and put the rest of the jars on the floor. I unscrewed one of the lids and stuck my hand in, then sucked on my fingers, "L~?" He didn't look at me, "Yes, B?"
"Why'd you steal my name?" "Because I defeated you."
In less than a second, I was on him, I slammed L's shoulders into the floor.
His cake splattered near by. Watari looked ready to jump into action but, held back. I snarled, viciously, "What the hell did you just say?!" "I said I-" I punched him, not caring if it did serious damage.
L's head whipped to the left, and a painful crack split the air. L gazed at me.
"Don't deny it, B. I solved your case, therefore I beat you." Suddenly he kicked his leg up, it hit me in my big boy spot. I barely winced but, my grip weakened. L threw both his legs in the air, and used them to pop himself into a standing position.
Even though I found his words outrageous, it was true. You catch the crook, you solve the crime. I did a sideways jump, twisting my legs toward L, I shot my right one out,
it hit him in the face. L stumbled back, but didn't fall.
"As long as I'm alive, I'll just keep creating cases, each one harder then the first, and without your so called 'eyes' you're useless!" That had to take a blow to his pride, pointing out that he had to rely on a woman to solve a case.
"Incase you've forgotten, your underestimation of my 'eyes'…" He dropped down onto his hands and propelled himself forward, I barely dodged before his feet connected with my chest. I could've caught myself, if the remote hadn't been behind me, causing me to slip and hit my head on the wall.
"Caused you to lose the war." L stood towering over me. I growled, menacingly.
L simply turned away, and hopped back on the cart. "Now, if you'll excuse me, Light-kun thinks I'm still in the bathroom." After cleaning up the splattered cake, Watari wheeled L back out of the room. Once again the door locked and I was alone.
I shrieked, got up and began scratching the wall like a deranged cat.
As a finishing touch, I hurled a jam jar at it, the jar exploded, and jam went everywhere. I stood still, panting heavily, then plopped back down on the floor,
and crossed my arms. 'Damn him!! I  should just kill him when I get the chance.'
Kira made his way into my mind. 'So that boy, Yagami Light, was arrested under suspicion of being Kira. That's why L wants to work with him, so he can investigate more closely. And that girl, Amane Misa, is the second Kira. The second Kira can seemingly kill just by looking at a person's face, but the first Kira needs a face and name…I wonder could Misa have the eyes of a shinigami, like me?'
I grabbed the lap top, my only source of information, and entered camera mode on L's main computer. I went thru the used film, until I found some marked 'confinement'.
'L did say something about being released from confinement.' The videos started on May twenty-eighth, about three tapes later I noticed something. Misa was in the middle of the screen bonded and blind-folded but, something was in the room with her. My eye brows furrowed together. 'What?' I turned the volume up.
"I…can't take it anymore. Kill me! Kill me. Hurry up and kill me." Misa exclaimed, the creature only stared. Another voice came on, it was computerized, "Misa Amane, can you hear me?" "Yes…" It was L…they were interrogating her. But, how could L not see that thing standing next to her. "Misa…do you mean…?" The creature spoke. "Yes, kill me."
So, Misa could hear it but, no one else could? After repeated herself again and again, Misa finally screamed, "IF YOU WON'T KILL ME THEN-" Suddenly Watari came on screen and gagged her. The creature backed up and disappeared thru the wall.
As I went thru her videos, my mind began to comprehend better. I moved from Misa to Light, and was shocked to see another huge monster in his cell. It would whine every so often about how small the cell was, or how it wanted an apple. On day seven, L spoke, "Light-kun, its only been a week now. Are you alright?" Light looked up,
"Yeah…I know I must look pretty bad in here but…this pride…I'll have to…get rid of it." The monster stood up from it's twisted position and headed toward the wall, "Okey-dokey! Later." It said,  before disappearing. My eyes widened, 'Was that some sort of signal?'
I re-watched it at least seven times, before concluding it was indeed a signal. 'Telling someone would be useless if I'm the only one who can see those things.'
I exited out of the film, and pulled a screen, showing L and the Yagami boy, in their room, sitting on a bed. L was crouching  like always, typing away on his own laptop.
While Light was lying down, looking a bit uncomfortable. I giggled and speed mailed L a message saying, 'Nice view.' When he received it, he nibbled on his thumb, while pulling up an image of me sitting on the floor, watching him, watch me, watch him, watching me.
He typed, 'Glad you're enjoying yourself. Have you been paying close attention to how I interact with the others?' I snickered, knowing if I said yes, a test would follow. 'Yup'.
"Ryuzaki?" Light asked. "Yes, Light-kun?" "How is it possible to kill billions of people but, not have any memory of doing so?" "I'm just as clueless as you, Light-kun. But, if I had to take a guess, I'd say Kira was controlling your's and Misa Amane's actions, so you weren't actually conscious when doing so."
I suddenly received a list of questions. The first one said, 'Name all the members of the Task Force by the name I call them.' 'Easy. Light-kun, Matsuda-san, Aizawa-san, Mogi-san, and Yagami-san.' "Still…" Light trailed off. L nodded, slightly. I couldn't tell if he was approving me or agreeing with Light. I received another message, 'I take it that, you've already seen the lay-out of the new HQ.' It wasn't a question. 'Yeah.'
'Do you think you can show the team around, when it's finished?' L wanted my first my job with the Force to be at an entirely different location? Another test, this time to see how fast I could adapt. 'Of course.' I typed.
A few days later, as I followed Watari thru the new building, I took mental notes of everything; camera locations, traps, halls, rooms, cracks (there weren't many), everything. He showed me my new, not too clean not too messy room. "You have everything you need here. But, L has strict orders for you to stay hidden, because if anyone were to know about your existence, you could be killed to." I nodded, as my eyes swept the room. "Is the fridge stocked?" Watari smiled, "Yes." I gave a wide goofy smile,
"So, what's next?" "L wants me to fix your appearance." He lead me into the bathroom, where the tub was filled with water and bubbles. I stripped down to my underwear, not caring whether Watari was looking or not, and stalked over to the tub. I gingerly stuck a toe in, and hissed as the warm water singed, my burnt skin. Watari helped me sit down, and carefully poured water on my back. "Beyond, you must learn to take better care of your body." I gave a small hum in response. Slowly, I got used to the water. Watari poured some shampoo in his hand, and began washing the grime and muck out of my hair. It felt kind of good. I began to wonder how Watari was able to put up with me and L. After a few minutes of soaking, he said it was time to get out, and fetched a towel.
When I stood up, I noticed how dirty and bloody the bath water had become, and was glad to get out. The towel was also warm, I sat on the bed, and turned the TV on. Spongebob!
It was weird to hear them speak Japanese.
Watari laid brand new clothes, on the bed, they looked exactly like L's. "I trust you can dress yourself." I nodded. He respected my privacy, and went to clean the bath tub.
I still felt a little stiff, seeming as though I'd been pretty active this past week, that bath helped…I guess.
I finished getting dressed and noticed a medium sized box on the dresser.
I opened it and saw it was full of make up. "Ooo, an L make over."  I picked up a powder pad, and applied the white substance over my reddish skin, until I looked deathly pale.
Next, I unscrewed a mascara brush and traced my bottom eyelid with it, to make it look like bags. I dug back into the powder and smeared it all over my hands, arms, neck,
and feet.
I looked in the mirror again. Something still wasn't right. Watari came out of the bathroom, with a blow dryer. "I think your hair is a little too flat." He chuckled. I smiled, and turned back toward the dresser. The sound of the dryer roared in my ears, and my hair, whipped in every direction. Watari ruffled it a little, then said, "The last detail: your eyes." He walked around me, and reached into the box. He pulled out a package of black contacts. "Would you like to put them in? Or would you prefer I do it?" "I can do it." I carefully pinched one, opened my eye wide, and put it in. I repeated the action with my other eye.
"Now, for the acting test." Watari announced. He didn't have to tell me twice,
I immediately slouched, and let my right finger linger on my bottom lip, while sliding my left hand into my pocket. I gazed emotionlessly up at Watari thru my bangs. "Watari, could you bring me my strawberry cheesecake, please?" I mumbled, around my finger, in a monotone voice. "Miss Amane, you look exceptionally beautiful today." "Light-kun, have you found anything else, concerning the Kira case?" "Matsuda-san, would you mind getting me some coffee, with extra sugar." "Aizawa-san, even if I don't look it, I can hear you talking about me." Watari chuckled at that one.
"So, have I passed?" I asked, still refusing to drop the act. "You certainly did." Watari smiled warmly, and gave me a gentle pat on the head. "L, should be arriving shortly." I took a deep breathe, suppressing my urge to squeal, instead I jumped onto the bed, and sat L style. In a matter of minutes, the door clicked and opened.
L entered, "How'd he do?" "Ten-out-of-ten." "That's a surprise." A wave of anger washed over me but, I remained stoic, realizing it was part of the test. L took something out his pocket and tossed it to me. I caught it in mid-air. A key.
"Light-kun, will be done any second so, I'll make this quick. You are to handcuff yourself to him and wait out side the door. After that go to the central investigating room, and turn on the computers. Watch the security camera for any members of the team, then guide them thru the security systems. When everyone is there you should know what to do. Now, go." I stood, quickly shoving the key in my pocket, and left.
I hurriedly shuffled down the hallway, and almost tripped over part of a handcuff,
that was sticking halfway out from under a door. 'Oh!' I squatted down, and attached it to my right wrist. As if  on cue, the door opened. "Ah, Light-kun you were in there for awhile, I was beginning to get suspicious." Light rolled his eyes, "Don't start that again." "I don't know what you're talking about." We began walking down the hall,
it wasn't until we reached the kitchen, I realized we were going the wrong way but,
played it off by, going over to the fridge. I reached in, and saw nothing but a box of panda crackers. I sighed but, took it anyway. "Now, shall we?" Light nodded and followed me down back down the hall. I mentally pulled up a map, and realized we would have to take the elevator down a few floors. So, that's exactly what we did.
When, we reached the designated room, I could tell Light was impressed.
We approached the main desk, and sat at the middle computers. I logged in,
immediately starting up the other computers, even the ones on the wall. I programmed them to show different angles of the check-in route so, if anyone arrived we would know.
I looked over at Light and observed the numbers and letters floating above his head, if my math was correct he still had one-thousand, and forty days to live. Dang, that was a lot. Well, it was compared to L and Watari…
Light noticed me staring, "Is something wrong, Ryuzaki?" "No." I said, simply.
It was out of character but, Light didn't notice. Something appeared on one of the screens. A car. I zoomed in on the driver's face. "Matsuda-san, has arrived."
I remembered the lonely crackers sitting on the desk, and decided to try one.
I reduced the urge to gag on it's dry tastelessness. I pressed the speak button on my computer. "Matsuda-san, the voice guidance program is on. It will navigate you thru the various check points." "Uh, okay?" Matsuda said, unsteadily. It took him several minutes to get thru all the scans, Light and I found it amusing to watch.
But, it turns out the other members had some difficulty getting thru, the person who had the most ease was probably, Light's father. (Mogi brought Misa.)
We greeted them each, as they entered the room. "Alright, now that everyone is here, I suppose a quick tour is in order." I said, "This room is where most investigating will take place, and unless I require your presence, you are free to move as you please. With the exception, of Light-kun, I threw in just for kicks. "I'm well aware of that." Light grumbled, seemingly already fed up with my attitude.
I kept a straight face and strode to the stairs, knowing everyone was following. I tried to be as descriptive as I could, throwing in sarcastic comments here and there, while remaining in character. Luckily, my acting skills proved strong but, still it was nerve-wrecking to know L was watching.
By the time, we finished the tour, it was nearly nine o' clock. Aizawa and Soichiro had to go home to their families but, the rest of us stayed here.
"Aw, Light our date didn't go as planned today so, let's meet up tomorrow, okay?" She exclaimed, cheerfully. "Okay." Light said, not sounded too happy about it.
Misa blew him a kiss, then disappeared into her room. "Light, you seem a bit down today, is something wrong?" I asked, with honest curiosity. "I guess I'm still adjusting to this whole situation, you know, the hand cuffs, and all." I thoughtfully bit my nail, and nodded, "I understand, it's hard to accept change, it takes time…How about some tea to make you feel better?" Light nodded slightly so, I gave a small smile, and we were off.
Watari was already in the kitchen, when we got there so, I asked him to make some tea. Light and I sat at the table, having an intellectual conversation.
Now, I see why L found him fascinating. Watari set two steaming mugs, in front of us. I carefully picked mine up, and took a sip. Light did the same. Then, about two seconds later, he suddenly collapsed on the floor. I stared. Another second later, L crawled out from one of the cabinets, and I can honestly say, he scared the living crap out of me. Watari picked up Light's mug and dumped it in the sink. "Sleeping pills?" "Mm hm." I unlocked the handcuffs and handed L the key. L took my hand, firmly. I stared at it, confused. "B, welcome to the team."
